TRUMP!
As I sit here at 5:32 am Eastern Time in my hotel in New York City, the Woke Era has ended. Joe Rogan, Elon and X, and Hispanic and White Men have taken back the country. They defeated one issue (abortion) women.
So far, Trump has just won 276 electoral votes, as Wisconsin was just called for Trump.
I’m thrilled beyond belief because America will get back to being America, at least for a few more years. When I criticize policy—and I will criticize Trump’s policies—I will do so from the position of someone who’s no longer worried about The Executive undermining the country.
Just a bit of housekeeping first. I’m flying back to Italy tonight, so I won’t be able to land there in time to write tomorrow’s Rude. Luckily, my friend and colleague Byron King has already stepped up. I’ll return on Friday to follow up on the election and today’s FOMC meeting.
Now, let’s see how The Donald pulled it off.
Trump Won South Texas
Hispanics' average age is 29. They have college degrees, and English is their first language. And they’re Catholic, not charity cases. Trump turned South Texas into a Republican Heartland. The Democrats’ strategy of winning Texas’ cities and keeping South Texas has turned to dust.
It seems ironic at first glance: Hispanics care deeply about the border. But a deeper look makes it easy to understand. They came to America to make a better life for themselves, not to turn America into the place from whence they came.
Kamala Should’ve Picked Shapiro, Loses PA
I’ve long thought Kamala’s head was emptier than deep space.
It was a monumental error not to choose Josh Shapiro as her running mate. How the DNC allowed it is utterly beyond me.
As a result, she lost Pennsylvania, and the rest of the Blue Wall followed (below).
Luckily for Trump, Kamala was wrong on fracking, tax on unrealized capital gains, and DEI. As Veep, she was utterly incompetent on the border, foreign policy, and the economy. She couldn’t distance herself from the Biden Administration’s policies, as she took credit for many of them.
So awful was Harris’ performance, the DNC may even let their constituents pick the nominee next time.
Rogan’s Endorsement Changed The Game
Joe Rogan’s interview with Trump and endorsement of him terraformed American politics. Watching NBC’s election coverage team admit Rogan affected the election was positively delicious.
Along with Rogan, having Elon Musk and RFK Jr on his team changed the electoral landscape. Formerly apathetic young white men voted in droves. Hispanic men voted for Trump, bad jokes about Puerto Rico notwithstanding.
The Mainstream Media took a fatal hit with this election. It’s not that they were wrong about everything; they’re merely irrelevant.
X is not a fountain of misinformation. It’s the Town Square of America and where you must be if you want to know the truth.
Blue Wall Turns Red
Trump has already won Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. It looks like he’ll take Michigan shortly. He’ll also win the popular vote and the Electoral College.
It’s amazing how poor the Democratic strategy was here. Kamala’s original fracking position—banning it—looks like it was fatal. Flipping at the last moment was disingenuous, and the electorate saw right through it.
So complete is Trump’s victory that the Democrats, Deep State, and Davos must be in a blind panic.
American Lear and His Unwise, Disloyal Fool
All Joe Biden had to do was be a kindly old man. Instead, he vilified half the country.
Biden was a mentally incapacitated, angry old man who was unfit for the office even when he had all his marbles. Without them, he was The American Lear minus the tragic enlightenment, and Kamala was his unwise, disloyal Fool.
But Biden isn’t the only one whose day has come. It’s the end for Barack Obama, as well. The would-be Democratic kingmaker made a tragic mistake when he tapped his buddy George Clooney on the shoulder to pen that infamous op-ed in The Los Angeles Times.
With Biden removed, Obama thought Harris would get behind the Resolute Desk and he could mentor her. Of course, Obama underestimated just how much resolve The Donald has.
Market Update
From The Wall Street Journal:
Futures tied to major U.S. stock indexes jumped. Dow industrials futures led the way, gaining more than 2.5%. Futures for the small-cap Russell 2000 index rocketed more than 5% higher.
Bond yields climbed—particularly longer-dated ones. The threat of a larger supply of Treasurys has pushed down bond prices.
The dollar strengthened, as the euro and currencies in countries such as Brazil, China, Japan, and Mexico swooned.
Bitcoin advanced above $73,000, notching a new record intraday high.
Wall Street’s fear gauge, the VIX, plunged to a roughly six-week low as investors cut bets that election uncertainty could stoke market volatility.
The Stoxx Europe 600 jumped more than 1.5%.
Wrap Up
Congratulations, USA! You’ve got a leader who loves you.
He’s far from perfect, but he operates from a place of genuine patriotism and love of his country.
I’m thrilled for you.
The real game begins this January.
In the meantime, God Bless America.
