The Adults in the Room are Idiots

  • Biden wants more Canadian oil but wont pipe it through.
  • Harris shows what she thinks of laypeople on a radio show.
  • Its impossible to be confident with these two in charge.

Happy Hump Day!

I dont think much of politicians at the best of times.

But Ive been cooling it lately since Im a gelato and pasta-soaked mess.

Oh yeah, and the vino rosso.

So I was grateful when good friend, ace midwesterner, and Rude reader Michael gave it to me with both barrels yesterday:

Rude this morning was very polite!

Dr. OK, I'm afraid, would've got a wee bit of a Detroit Blaster... Got my BP up just reading it!

Reminds me of an Amtrak encounter I had with a Nebraska professor one time coming back from Chicago to Iowa when I used to use that terrible option for winter commutes due to bad roads.

He started railing about the evil corporations. When I asked him to be more specific he became so angry he got up and walked away.

After all, he has a point. But I, little old me, had a corporation with 20 employees and two offices and I wasn't quote-unquote evil.

Neither were many major corporations. And I'm sure he wasn't just talking about Pfizer or Raytheon.

Crazy tendency to overgeneralize and then discriminate on that basis.

Just got to wonder what Doctor Okay would have said or done had you just said a couple more words.

Black Lives Matter?

20% inflation?

Open Southern Border?

Hunter Biden?

Gas pump?

I'm sure it would have been the end of the conviviality.

At some point, subjective value is trumped by reality. Always is.

And in Doctor Okays case with a big T as well!

At some point, subjective value is trumped by reality. Always is.

Wise words from a wise man.

So lets get to todays Rude, where I get back to shining light on todays idiocy.

I Would Do Anything for Oil, But I Wont Do That!

Yesterday, I had the privilege of being on a conference call with the Sherlock of the Supply Chain, Mark Rossano.

Rosanno, my paisano - in the richest sense of the word - let rip on the geopolitical situation and how thats fouled up our supply chain in precise terms.

But when it got to oil, it went from the sublime to the ridiculous.

Not unexpected when it comes to the Biden administration.

You can read it here if you can stand the stupidity.

Heres the headline:

As Ricky Gervais once said at the Golden Globes, This is the level.

So writes the Journal:

Biden administration officials are seeking ways to boost oil imports from Canada, people familiar with the situation say, but with one big caveatthey dont want to resurrect the Keystone XL pipeline that President Biden effectively killed on his first day in office.

The people said deliberations are in the early stages and that no clear-cut solutions have emerged.

Except for the one glaring clear-cut solution: finish and open the Keystone XL pipeline.

I cant accurately convey to you how this gets up my nose.

Just Do It.

Like Nike used to.

Complete the pipeline. Open the pipeline. Buy oil from a friend.

Its as simple as it can get.

But heres the thing: the Biden administration, like all administrations, is owned.

Usually, its not this obvious.

But its as plain as a pikestaff here.

So lets lay it out for you: Joe Biden refuses to alleviate gas pump pain because the purple-haired Twitterati owns him.

More from the Journal (bolds mine):

Longer-term, Canadian officials and oil-industry analysts say expanding the existing Keystone pipeline network would offer a bigger, more efficient solution.

The XL expansion was to carry 830,000 barrels a day of Canadian crude from Alberta to Nebraska, where the pipeline would meet up with the existing Keystone pipeline, and then on to refineries on the U.S. Gulf Coast.

Canada has ample reserves under its soil to meet U.S. demand, said Kevin Birn, an analyst with S&P Global Commodity Insights. It just doesnt have enough pipeline capacity to pump it here, he said.

And later:

Jason Kenney, premier of the Canadian province of Alberta, where most of Canadas oil lies, is pushing for reviving the Keystone plans. He has criticized the Biden administration for looking to repressive regimes such as Venezuela and Saudi Arabia for oil when Canada can provide additional capacity.

Were pleased to hear that there are discussions around enhancing North American energy security, said Mr. Kenneys spokesman, Justin Brattinga. Instead of going cap in hand to the Saudis, Iranians, and Venezuelans to replace Russian energy, instead of replacing dictator oil with dictator oil, come to your liberal democratic friends and allies in Canada.

I wouldnt describe Kanada as liberal and democratic right now, but lets not argue about semantics.

Remember, Joe Biden is the adult in the room.

And speaking of semantics

Kackling Kamala Explains Ukraine

If theres one thing that describes Kamala Harris for me, its the Peter principle:

The Peter principle is a concept in management developed by Laurence J. Peter, which observes that people in a hierarchy tend to rise to "a level of respective incompetence."

Employees are promoted based on their success in previous jobs until they reach a level at which they are no longer competent, as skills in one job do not necessarily translate to another.

Not since the days of Dan Quayle have we seen someone less qualified for the job of Vice President.

But her explanation of the Russia-Ukraine conflict takes the cake.

Heres the snippet:

So, Ukraine is a country in Europe.

It exists next to another country called Russia.

Russia is a bigger country.

Russia is a powerful country.

Russia decided to invade a smaller country called Ukraine.

So, basically, thats wrong, and it goes against everything that we stand for.

I know thats hard to believe, so listen to it here.

I laughed, imagining my publisher Chris arriving in Italy fully armed if I ever explained things to you like that.

But Kamala is one of the adults in the room.

Wrap Up

Best bud and Rude reader Trav sent me a hilarious Gad Saad tweet showing what the Swamp itself thinks of the adults in the room.

This shows Barack Obama next to Biden at the 12th anniversary of the (Un)Affordable Care Act signing.

This one is even funnier.

Can you imagine being the most powerful man in the world and not having 50 people surround you?

But hey, the public bought the adults in the room argument against The Donald.

And now youre left with a more childish administration than ever.

Until tomorrow.

All the best,

Sean
